I spent the week end working on the scoot ('08 FLHTC) I put on a new rear wheel and Kuryakyn chrome control covers and switch housings, everything went smooth except now the scoot won't crank! Nothing, the security system doesn't arm or disarm it has the "red key" light solid on the dash.
It seems like the security system is "stuck" on ARM, no chirps (on or off).
Also, I had 11" shocks which on this bike bottomed out badly, the tire "ate up" the rear wiring harness. I separated each wire and taped them up. Could a wire be grounding itself against the fender. Would a fault here (rear tailight harness) affect the security system?
Before I start tearing down everything, any suggestions on re-setting the security system? I don't have the pin/code (would need to get it from the dealer) and I checked/changed the fob battery.
God I hate these electrical problems ...thanks guys
Hi guys, I wonder if anyone among you could kindly help me with my thorny problem similar to cybermunster's: all I need is the operation manual for this security system so I can arm and disarm the bike properly and correctly. Please just tell me where I can get a copy/download the content of this operation manual. Thx alot !!
carl & harley ...yes to both suggestions, actually tried a new battery on the fob, nothing ...removed the fob from where the bike is for a while and then tried again to see if it would read the fob and reset, nothing.
check your connection of the ECM plug under the seat, also make certain it's in the locked position. there's a small arm which is the lock for that plug and if it's loose you'll have many problem with the poor connection.
I hope that's all it is, that'd be great. I had a problem over last summer just over 100 miles from home. last ditch effort before trailing it home. figured I'd look and the lock was loose, fired it up and went home.
