I installed the Kurriakin adjustable passenger footrest on my 09Ultra. After less than 1000 miles on them, one broke off. I had read about this after I had already installed them. Seems like the harley bolt is of inferior quality. Does anyone know the grade of the footrest bolts. These suckers were expensive and now I lost one. Doubt if you can buy just one.
Go to Ace Hardware. They sell fasteners by the unit. I don't know the grade but I'd use Grade 8. While you're at it, by one for the other side. Shouldn't cost you more than 5 bucks for 2 bolts.
Also..
make sure the bolt is long enough to go THROUGH the whole frame with maybe thread or 2 penetrating the other side so that you get enough real estate to fasten to
All I can say is that I have the Soos passenger footrest extenders and never had a problem. I guess Soos uses good bolts. I also know that mama steps on those mounts and then swings her leg up over the backrest, so if one ever breaks, it ain't gonna be a happy day.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember a thread discussing that HD won't admit anything wrong but that they miraculously changed the mounting brackets on the 2010's to accomodate two bolts.
I bought the kury adjustable pegs online and installed them myself. I was unaware of any problem with them when I took my bike to my local dealer for service.
The tech said he noticed one of the mounts was cracked and put a new set on for me. I was a little upset at first, because I didn't know how much they were charging me and I didn't even know there was a problem.
He told me not to worry about. There was no charge, parts or labor. He said he would send them back to kury for warranty replacement.
I had the adjustable Pass foot rests for years on my 98 and now a newer set on my 09. Are you talking about the rest that clamps on the stock floor board ?? If so, what broke, the rest or the stock floor board bolt ???

That is what I call customer service.
Take care of that tech....that's what I do with mine.
