It is supposed to be more comfortable than the stock 08 seat. The stock 08 seat also has that "hump" The pan changed slightly in 09 where they began calling it a "suspended" seat to help with heat.

So I take it by you saying "supposed to be" you haven't laid hands on it yet? What is your ( and everybody else) opinion then? Should those of us with 08s be looking at buying one of these new seats? I am not that unhappy with my current stock 08 seat, but I may not know any better either. I don't live close to a dealer to go check them out, so I'm looking for input here.
I haven't seen one yet but the 08 seats are the best seats compared to the 09/10 seats and it also has the better foam in them. In 09 the HD seats became real terds and the quality dropped off at least by 30% so knowing that I would have to say that anything "new" is being made using the same quality of foam.
I understand you to mean the "new" seats are still using the "new" foam as opposed to correcting the problem by going back to the old foam......right? (of course that is what you mean, going back to the older, better foam would be too simple!!)
I probably just need to send my seat to that place.....what is it...."nice country scooters"?? and let them fix it!!
Great dealer told me by phone that the new seat has less foam and narrower to give us short folks more footing.I now have a trike and thought the new seat would put me back a bit.Dealer said not much and it would be firmer. In my case I am not going to switch.
Was in a dealership yesterday. Looked at a Limited just in & manufactured end of Jan. The stiching in the seat looked the same as in the picture posted for the "new" seat. But the seat still had the "air" hole at the bottom that has been there since 2008. The pictures posted for the "new" seat don't show the hole in the seat? Is it gone in the "new" seats?
Got the new seat and tried it on a few short rides. Only real diff I'm noticing is in walking the bike around. I'm 5'7" w/ a 29-in inseam, and it's much easier to walk the bike around now. I was not quiiite flat-footed before, now I'm totally flat-footed. The nose is narrower and shorter (I can see some rub marks on the console from the nose of the old seat). The seat pan feels harder...dunno how it'll be on the longer rides. Very slight improvement in reach to the bars and seat height.
For a stock seat, and for $130, it's not bad. I was using a secondhand early-'09 stock Ultra seat which had a few rips and needed replacing anyway. If I had bought this as a "reach" seat, I'd be disappointed.
