I know this has been a popular topic with bagger owners. I bought a 21-18 wheel combo for my Road King. My question is how much should I lower the front end? I already lowered the rear 2-inches, and I don't want the top heavy feel at low speeds. It seems that lowering the front 1-inch is the norm, but should I go 2-inches since the rear is 2-inches lower? Thanks in advance for replies!
I'm really surprised you have not had any clearence issuses with the rear being lowered 2 inches... with the 21" on the front I wouldnt lower mine much more than 1" just to save a little comfort... but its your ride man... as long as you dont have any clearence problems and you dont mind the rough ride... slam that bitch to the ground I say!
ICIBUY-I have only bottomed out twice, with the girlfriend on back. It takes a pretty good sized bump in the road to bottom out, never happens when riding solo. I thought I read somewhere that the crash-bar clearance is an issue if lower the front 2-inches. The fender hits the crash bar? I have considered raising the rear 1-inch, due to the 18-inch wheel and tire being a little taller, than the 16. Your SG looks killer with those wheels, by the way!
Franklin322- What lowering kit did you use for the 1.5 in the front?
Thanks guys for the replies!!!
I wouldn't raise it 2" in the front because the ride will be real stiff and the fender could hit the bottom of the trees or your crash bar. We feel 1" in the front is a good height but you might be able to go with 1 1/2" if you really want to.
Thanks Hogpro. I think 1-inch is the way to go. Have you had good luck with a certain lowering kit, that you would recommend? I was thinking about the Progressive kit.
I have just finished my wheel swap 18 in rear 21 up front,I was going to lower the front 2 inches but i found that their was only 1 1/2 inches of travel left before bottoming out thats not enough for me so 1 inch did it up front and have 1 inch out of the rear but am looking for a softer shock to replace the back
