Please make a non-mechanic feel better.... my stealer charged me just shy of $1500 to change out stock bars on a 09 Ultra to 12" 'Bagger Apes'...cheap, about right or WTF!...
Ride safe.
I had one indie shop quote me $1,200+ and said if I could get it done for under $1,000 "Grab it". I went to my usual indie and got it done for $150 bars plus $300 labor. Shop around!
I think that is a little high even for a dealer. I wanted the HD Touring Pullback bars. They said I needed longer ABS brake line assy, TBW extension and a longer clutch cable plus, of course, the handlebars. About $1100 parts and labor + tax. Would've cost $1200 out the door.
I checked with the Indy and he said that was about what he would charge-maybe a little less.
Turned out all I needed was the handlebars and a LOT of my spare time(not too bad considering it was too cold and rainy to do anything else). I did have to reroute my clutch cable.

That sounds about right, as long as he kissed you first.
That is actually about what my bar swap ran on my RK. I only did it because it was soon enough after I bought it that it went on the bike's warranty. That price included labor, the bars ($250) chrome switch housings, internal wirining, braided HD cables, mirrors, and grips. They quoted 8 hours and my dealer is $65 per hour
