It vibrates even more when you are holding the front brakes at idle.

The touring models engines are rubber mounted and aren't balanced while the Softail models are hard mounted but their engines are balanced which takes care of the vibrations at idle. So it is totally normal.

My 10 RoadGlide is pretty smooth compared to my 07 RoadKing, that thing shook like a bastard at idle.

Should have ridden a Softail Evo . . . Frankly I have no problem with either my TC Fatboy or my Ultra.

Have you looked at a tourer's engine at idle... sucker just hops like it's going to jump right out of the bike! Put cams in mine and got even more -- I love it!!

Red face Pleasant Vibs...

I went from a 1998 fatboy to my 2010 Road King...and noticed the same thing regarding vibration.
The Fatboy was more of a "buzzing" vs. the RK which has a lower "frequency" and just isn't that obtrusive. It's the same but "different".
Folks tell me it will settle out a little once broken in...the rubber mounts soften slightly, etc. This gives you enough time to forget about it and just enjoy the ride.

I came over from a Heritage, so I have an idea of what you are experiencing.

It's kind of like jock rash. It irritates the hell out of you at first, but later you appreciate having something to do while at a stop light.
