Many glides, no wallow, must be those california roads Or maybe some bikes are well worn, I noticed the original poster had a cop bike, those get heavy abuse around here.
All 3 of my FLH's wobbled, 05 FLHTCI from brand new, 03 FLHTCUI bought with 1100 miles on it, and the RK. True Cali highways have grooves cut into them for rain drainage but the "wallow" is well documented in the FLH line.
Ive run Tha Dragon's tail two up at a good speed and never felt this, and these are the tightest curves east of the mississppi, I guess if you want a sport bike ride it might do something, otherwise Its like alot of products out there, made to address things that dont need addressing.
you wont feel it on draggons tail...... its yhe higher speed long sweepers where it really becomes apparent... especially if hitting some bumps in the turns...
Why did you choose the Ride Str8 over the True-Trak?
I choseRide Str8because it still allowed clearance for the RivCo Center Stand. I am considering the axle adjusters, but I am also looking at changing over to the later syle swing-arm.
Another consideration. In the January '08 issue of "Hot Bike Baggers" there is a nice article on Glide Pro's FL stabilizer. ( pg 66) Article theorizes as to the why many of us FL ridersare experiencing the wallow when cornering our bikes. I like the idea of addressing a problem at itssource, which is why Ifind the Glide Pro and interesting alternative to the TT & Ridestr8. No external hardware linking the engine/tranny to the frame is also a + in my view.
Hey Gunrunner
Consider youself lucky if you have not had the wallow on any of your EG's. I have a 2006 FLTHCUI which suffers extremley from said wallow so much so that on 2 seperate occasions it got so bad that I was sure I was going to loose the scoot. As some forum followers would know I have had major performance problems since purchasing my scoot new and have only now sorted the motor to the stage where I can consentrate on other problems the bike has.Part of the problem is that down under in Oz our roads ( major highways ETC ) are goat tracks compared to the states smooth wide roads.
Next problen to fix is my wallow,
High speed wallow/sway is very real, I once passed my fathercoming the other way on a long sweeping turn and he all but witnessed medoing a hand stand on the handle bars, I was clearly looking at the front fender of myHonda 750k, my father said if Ikeep riding like that he'll be beating me in a foot race around the house...humm...Reality remains the same if your going to push the limits of what the bike is designed for you may one day also looking at the frontfender of what ever bike you are riding.
The off road and cafĂŠmachines have steering stabilizers to compensate for want then transfers from wallowing to head shake which can be produced simply from hitting a bum in the road on a long sweeping speed turn. What we aretalking about hear is purchasing a device designed to give you piece of mind... Hey you never know when you may hit a bump in the night...I will be ordering one, thanks again to HD Forums.
