RK bar option?
The stockers seem to be hunching me forward and reaching down a bit. I'm wanting to set the bike up for some long distance roadtrips; got a QD Rack, watching a Sundowner & adj. Backrest, looking for a QD Sissybar. The stock bars will need to be replaced with something friendlier. Is the simple answer the Heritage Style bars I've read about in similar threads? I'm 5'9", if that colors your advice. Thanks!
Shop used bikes in your area, look at what they have mounted and try them, do the same at rallies as they come up in your area. I love the look of modest apes, 12-16 inch styles but my bursitis said no so I went with a beach bar style of RK II from Wild 1 but they are not appealing to everyone.
I am 6'2" and have a long reach, the RKII bars basically put the grips at the tops of my thighs and is very comfortable for long rides, they do require getting used to having the arms down and wide but I find that less of a nuisance than aches. I have changed the cables and the brake lines to the front since the photo.

Patrick, you could go down to just about any of the local HD dealers and look at a used RK police. They came stock with a bar that has the same exact specs as the "heritage style" bar. See how they feel. If you like them, you'd probably like the Heritage style bar.
After putting 2 sets on my King I ended up with the wild 1 517 great bar, tried 513 have to lean to far forward, beach bars were good but didn't like the looks hand were to far back, by the way I am 5'9''
I am between about 5'9 and I just sold my police RK. Not long before selling it I had the Heritage bars put on it, and it was amazing the difference it made. Most motorman will tell ya, theres a big difference between the bars that come on the RK police model, and the heritage bars. I dont think you will be dissapointed.

+1 for the Wild1 Chubby 517's. Have 'em on my RKC. Love them...I sit up nicely and rarely have pain between my shoulder blades, and when I do, it's usu at the end of long days when I've been riding in tense situations (namely rain or wind).
