I tried the reach seat on my road glide, it felt like i was sitting on the fuel tank, returned the seat, spent less money having the stock seat customized, now i'm comfortable while ridding
I had a Reach on my '09 Ultra. It did lower me/ bring my legs together enough to get my feet flat but it was very confining, basically it locked me against the tank. I also did not find it all that comfortable for long rides. I wound up selling it and having MCC redo my stock seat. Having to do it over again, I would have had MCC re-work the Reach Seat instead since I already had it. I am more than likely going to have Corbin make me a seat to accomplish both the height and comfort issues. They have a great program.
I've had the reach seat for almost 2 years. I've made 2 coast to coast trips and numerous 1,000 mile plus trips. I like mine. I also installed Pingel lowering blocks at the same time. Love the ride. (28" inseam) 44,000 miles on them.
STOP!! B4 you buy the reach seat look at the 2010 screamin eagle street glide seat. I am 5'6" and i put it on my bike, it is amazing, there also is an aftermarket lowering kit for the flhx. i put in on but it does make the ride a little rougher.
Thanks for the advice. Looking at the seat on the CVO Streetglide. From the HD site it looks alot like a reach with extra padding in the lower back area. Will have to see if any dealers around have one.
I would like to be closer to the ground on My ultra, as I have trouble backing the bike up. I have considered the Reach seat, but don't want to give comfort on 500 to 600mi trips ( in one day). How comfy are they on these trips?
I have the HD reach seat and I dont think going the distance will be an issue. I like mine and it makes it alot easier to back up.
Thumbs up on the reach seat! I like mine just fine , comfort is good, passenger pillion is wider and more comfy . Looks great . There are lowering kits on the market, and do work, your shock set up isn't a ht adjustable unit; ride adjustable and gives u lift with added passenger wt. idoc_chaney@yahoo.com if you'd like to discuss what I have done that works very well.
Joe
I have a reach seat and low profile shocks. Love the setup. Feel like I am on my 2007 fatboy. Have been on long distance but my friend who has a 2009 ultra, same setup has rode 2500 miles with two up on a trip and loves it. Some will some won't. Get it, try it. I have a new deep bucket sundowner seat p/n 52093-08 with only about 900 miles of riding on it if anyone interested. Fits 2010 roadking and probably any 2010 tour bike.
