I love the stock seat, very comfortable but I cant have flat feet. Im using reach seat now, flat feet more control but not comfortable like the stock. I'm using it now for short rides and I might change to stock for longer in future.
The other problem I get from reach is sometimes I feel sitting on the tank!
Here is a comparison between 09 stock seat and reach (im wearing a slipper for the lowest possible clearance)
comfort is relative - whats good for me may not be good for you. that said,
I'm 5foot 4, 30" inseam, ride an Ultra, reach seat, 2" lowering blocks. Last year
we rode from Dallas to eastern Ill. in 1 shot. don't remember the miles, but
somewhere around 700 and was ready to do more, but everyone else was ready
to quit for the day. That seat was the best purchase I've made for my bike.
That said, I used to run a Corbin close up gunfighter on a softail standard and liked it
too, so my judgement might not be too good!
I had a Reach on my '09 Ultra. It did lower me/ bring my legs together enough to get my feet flat but it was very confining, basically it locked me against the tank. I also did not find it all that comfortable for long rides. I wound up selling it and having MCC redo my stock seat. Having to do it over again, I would have had MCC re-work the Reach Seat instead since I already had it. I am more than likely going to have Corbin make me a seat to accomplish both the height and comfort issues. They have a great program.
I'm still searching for the perfect setup; and that's kind of been my experience with the Reach Seat. It did do the trick of getting me lower and closer to the bars which I needed - but is not comfortable for long distances - I don't think I get enough thigh support. I've tried a Mustang (raised me up too high); a customized Saddleman Road Sofa which has pretty good support and I use most of the time. I'm thinking of having MCC redo the Reach Seat for better comfort or getting a Corbin close dual tour seat. Re-working the Reach Seat would be cheaper, I suppose, but I've heard mixed reviews on how much the ride comfort has been improved after the re-work and I'm not sure if they can give me better thigh support. BTW, I'm 5'4" with 28" inseam riding a lowered '06 Ultra...
Thumbs up on reach seat ; narrows and allows better reach , also the passenger pillion is wider . Comes with backrest cut out and I would advise considering the adjustable backrest--- makes for even more control and comfort .
