Default Lowering Front end, wheels, etc

I just ordered a 18/21 combo Forge Tec wheels, chrome lower forks and 1" lowering kit for front end. Any advise before I tackle this project? I know I need to lift the front fender slightly by "ovaling" out the front fender rear hole, but my main concern is lowering springs. Do I need to take off more than just front fairing? Thanks for any advice!

you will have to pull the inner fairing too. It is a lot easiet than you think. You will have to drop the forks as well. Inner fairing drop... pull the radio, fairing cap and the inner is self explanitory. The hardest part is pulling the ignition. There is a great thread on that.

dropping the forks is not too hard either. I just pulled the fork caps and loosened the pinch bolts (with the bike on the lift and just touching the ground). once everything is loose, jack the bike up slowly ans slide the tubes down the the pinch bolts and temp tighten. That will give you just enough room to get the top off the fork uppers. Be careful of the tension but is do-able. I have done 4-5 like this w/o any issue.

If you want to pull the forks out of the trees, you have to remove the front wheel and fender, the ignition and switch cap. Remove the top plug on the forks, unloosen the pinch bolts and the forks will slide out. Put forks in a padded vise to remove the springs. If you want to put chrome "cans" on, yes the outer fairing as to be removed. That's how I would do it.....

right, forgot he was changing to chrome front end. In that case all is as posted above. I gave the quicker version for the lowering install.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to pull the outter OR inner fairing to remove the forks, Just the switch cap.

So can you get to the top nut on the forks without taking any fairings off?

How did you get that front bolt out of the cowbell without removing the front splash panel?

oh man, I'm going to have to look into this one. I never even gave it a second look. I have always seen the techs remove fairing so just assumed it had to come off. HOT DAMN! I'm gonna look at that today. thanks
