I went with the Classic becuase living in Florida I just didn't think I really had a need for the lowers and I really was indifferent about the CB and rear speaker thing. The only thing I wish I had that neither comes stock with is the abililty to easily remove the Tour Pack. I should have negotiated the price of the quick disconnect kit into the price of the bike.
I purchased an 09 Ultra over the Classic because of the wraparound seat for my wife plus the speakers in the rear for her also. The lowers, the cb for me but I can say that those lights may save your life because they are very visible...just my 2 cents............
GO for it brother , get the Ultra , I am biased though.
It will be easier to take something off of an Ultra than
having to buy even more stuff to upgrade a Classic
to an Ultra. To each his own but I say there is no
choice at all.
I SECOND THAT.....
IT'S ALWAYS EASIER TO TAKE OFF THAN TO PUT ON.
I have a classic.
The only thing the ultra had that I wanted over the classic was the lower fairings. I got them for $250 on ebay. I converted my rear turn signals into running/brake lights for the extra lights. Love the clean look of the TP too and the quick disconnect is awesome.
I bought the classic, did not need the lower fairings (being 6' 3") and to me the cb is a joke. I got ABS and cruise on it. Made my tour pak removable, so now i get a street glide look, when i go on the long trips or two up slap the tour pak back on. For the $$$$ the Classic is the best out there.
Ultra all the way, and if you can swing it - get a Limited. When I was looking last September I thought I wanted an Ultra until the salesdude showed me a limited.
Can never have too many lights in the back.
Had Both, like the Classic better. Little more room in the tourpac, didnt need rear speakers, intercom, or the CB. Mine came wth ABS and Cruise and I added the lowers.....nice to have in 20* weather. Plus the Classic is 25# lighter, so you can pack that much more.
