When I first test road a Classic and an Ultra, I was sold on the Ultra. Last year when I started looking at touring bikes I started with the Road King and the Street Glide. But after adding up the costs of the upgrades that I was going to end up wanting, I ended comparing the Ultra and the Clssic again. Then I saw the Limited and did the money comparison, so I ended up with a Limited. In my opinion, if you are looking at the Ultra you need to seriously look at the Limited

I don't think I've ever heard any one complaint about having extra lights on the back of a motorycle.

Got an '09 EGC with cruise and ABS and rode it around NA last summer. (RR at http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=491072) Never felt like I was missing anything. Tunes and CC are nice when just logging klicks.

My biggest issue is a removable kit for the Trunk, the wiring. You would think HD would have a way to do this without having to make a custom disconnect or plug.

You must have the classic confused with the standard...The Classic has the same chrome on it as the ultra.

Traded in my favorite '06 RKC for '09 Ultra and found that touring long trips isn't convienent on RKC so...

What did most of the guys here say ?. ULTRA !.

Well, now you have heard a lot of opinions, what have you decided. I have a Classic. Well, it started out as a Classic. It is morphing into an Ultra.

I think you have to start with the pemise that any HD motorcycle is only the down-payment to the parts catalogue.

That being said, if I had to do it all over again, I'd have gone to the Ultra. They didn't offer a Limited when I bought.

Now the wrinkle: I'd also take a good look at the Road Glide with a TourPak. You can order either the "Classic" TourPak or the "Ultra" TourPak depending on your lighting preference.

I think once you've been scared by a few cagers who stop awfully close to your TourPak, you'll want the extra lighting of the Ultra and a modulator to make your rear lights flash in the cager's face.

My $.02.

Well.......I'm still on the fence. I have a 06 Classic and looking at trading and buying a 2010. I like the cleaner looks of the Classic tour pack. I dont plan on using a CB or intercom system being I dont wear a helmet. The rear speakers would be nice but Hog Tunes could fill the void on that issue and I dont think I would run the lower fairings alot. So I'm still scratchin my head on this.

The above is probably the most honest answer you will get IMO.

Branded1; your last post tells me you want the Ultra, but you are doing your best to talk yourself out of it. The things you say you don't need will come in handy if you do any touring. If you really won't ever use them, why pay extra? But, most people end up adding all or part of the items you listed. You asked for opinions, I'd buy the Ultra. (but I already did)
