Where's the bike? Have someone closer take a look? What's the VIN # for the bike?
Call me crazy, but I am too paranoid to give the location for fear of some local member reading it whose in the market for a nice RK and ****** it up from me.... man, I have to relax! I don't have a VIN but that is something I will have checked out - I am going to request a pre-purchase inspection and that should help with the worries too. Thanks.
See if he will accept a $500 down payment till you get there. You said he sounds honest so if he scams you for the 500 then you probably got off cheap meaning he would have been dishonest about the bike as well only that would have been a more expensive lesson.
It's a good deal if you like all of the add-ons, it looks good. If you were to add all the accessories up it would be 3 or 4K, granted you don't get that much when you go to trade but if it's what you like you have to figure what it would cost to add all of it. The same people that are telling you it's not worth it are the same ones who complain about all the money there spending on upgrades. If you like it, go for it.
Looks like a nice clean bike......but that's alot of money for 10 year old scoot.
I'd say it should be able to be had for closer to $9K or less even with all the extras.
Very nice looking. Where were those pics taken? If that is his place and his car, buy the bike. He takes care of his toys. Offer $10 K and buy it even if he won't come down that much. You want it, and you and the rest of us know you want it.
In my personal experience, if you really want something that you can afford but don't get it because you don't think it is a good enough deal, you will be second guessing yourself for a very long time.
It really doesn't matter what ya buy, OR what ya give for it, someone is gonna tell ya "you got screwed"! ..........It's a really nice Harley. If you can swing the deal, do it!
Give Dawg the VIN, he will at least give you the lowdown on the bike. Besides, he loves his bike too much and he's a cop, so he's not rich enough to afford two bikes I still love ya Dawg
And, for those who say it's too much, just look at it this way; A Harley will only depreciate so much, and if you plan to keep it just go for it. If your lookin to turn it in a few months, don't bother. My 08 isn't worth much more these days
It's a matter of opinion, MY 04 Ultra had 11k miles on it with $4500. in extras, the owner was "asking" 14k, I told him," i know its worth more, but i've got 10k cash! I gave him my #, never expecting to hear from him again. He called a week later for the 10k. He was 4 months behind on his mortgage. Times are tough, i wouldn't pay that much for a 10 yr old bike. Its not too much, but i won't pay it. I just picked up a 96 heritage with 13k miles on it for $3800. There are to many bikes out there & the economy sucks. If you got the cash lo ball him, there are to many bikes out there to get emotionally involved with just one!!!! The key is, its a business transaction , do business then fall in love!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
