Did a search here for information on Road 6 Customs, which has windshields listed on eBay for really reasonable prices. Found one thread that dated back to 2008 and it seemed that the few people who posted regarding their windshields were happy.
Fast forward to 2010: anyone here have their windshields? If so, what size and tint did you get? Are you happy with the quality? I'm thinking of going with the 8" with the light tint for my Ultra, which would be 2" shorter than the stock windshield.
HAve a 6" for my SG. Quality was ok, but not great. The edges were not rounded, and the shield was flat, not, pre-curved. I got mine for free for helping him so I am not sure if his paid shields are better.
I checked out the Fast Aire website; very similar in pricing. I noticed that under 'instructions', it states, in part:
Note: The windshield will install easier if it is pre-warmed to room temperature ( 70 80 degrees F )
Step 1 - Peeling from the edge; remove the protective covering from the both sides of the new windshield and inspect it now.
Step 2 - Holding the new windshield by both edges and gently bend the windshield to fit the contour of the fairing opening.
Does this mean that the windshields are flat like the Road 6 Customs? Can anyone tell me the quality of the cut and edge of the windshield, comparing it to the Harley?
Thank you everyone for commenting on this, we have THOUSANDS of happy customers out there that have our windshields. couple of things...
Our early windshields were cut with a differnt milling tool and we were not able to creat the "rounded edge" without sanding and polishing the windshields by hand. We are starting to use a new procedure that uses a "rounded edge" cutter which will all be available VERY SOON (August 2010)
Im not sure what the big deal is about them being flat, they curve to fit your fairing with literally ZERO effort.
We are using a polycarbonate product that is impact resistant and shatter proof. In fact we give a LIFETIME WARRANTY so if one of windshields cracks, send it back and we will replace it FOR FREE. They cant break, we folded one in half to see.
