I recently changed the bars on my 2009 RK standard to Heritage style bars. I can honestly say, "If I can do it, you can do it."

The link petemac provided has some useful information, but the 2009 model has significant differences from a 2002 model. Best advice - get the service manual and follow the directions step by step.

I snapped digital pics all along the way and logged everything I did, but it was overkill. It only took me 2 - 2.5 hours and everything came out perfect.

Remember to put a shim behind the front brake control, and ABSOLUTELY cover your tank and front fender with some sort of protection.

I just read the service manual and it seems like its not that complicated. removing/replacing the throttle sensor in the bar seems like a delicate job, but not that hard. I wanted to change the bars on my '09 Ultra and the dealer was quoting about 8 hours of labor. Am I missing something??

If you stick with a bar that you can re-use all your stock cables its pretty easy. Get a service manual and go step by step and take your time.
I changed mine out to a bar that was 2" higher and had 2" more pullback. Used all my stock cables & it took me roughly 4 hrs Taking my time. Not hard at all.
