Excellent response! I agree and I'm not complaining about it. I hope I didn't sound that way. Shoot, folks trading 'em in is what provides me with great opportunities to pick up a great deal.

$9,600 for a very nicely chromed / accessorized Ultra *WITH* a fresh service *AND* a new (reman) engine? I would have been insane to pass that up!

Hopefully in about 7 or 8 years, I'll be able to score again on a RK, RG or SG. Oh, and yes, there *IS* an SE Deuce, somewhere in my future too! After all, you can't have too many Harleys!

Wow- that was a steal. I would have jumped on it when I was looking for a bike. I paid $9000 for my 93 with 32,000 miles and thought I got a great deal.

They are probably out riding. These bikes can be picked up at a very good price.Very reliable and most problem areas fixed.Easy to get parts for if stranded out of state.Dealers and private firms still work on these.Very proven motor, can take high mileage.

I also have a 95 Ultra and like the EVO just fine. I have NO problem keeping up with the twinkies.

IMNSHO, Evos will be toolin' around when the Twinkie motors that weren't converted to gear drive cams have all disintegrated due to those stupid chain drive cams and their even stupider plastic adjusters.

I wanna 80 inch Big Flattie!

I'm liking mine and she's going to have to last.
This years budget doesn't have a new HOG in it. (actually neither does any other budget I can think of)

I just sold my '92 FLHS after 14 years of faithful service. Why because I wanted an Ultra and I wanted a new one. I would have kept the EVO if my banker (wife) hadn't insisted I needed the money for the down payment. My '92 would walk all over a stock TC88, in fact it was stronger than any other EVO with the same mods I ever encountered. I have no explanation other than it was a very late '92 and it was "right". Mods included: S&S E carb, Andrews EV-3 cam with springs, Andrews adjustable push rods, Crane HI-4 ignition and coil, gutted Supertrapp Slip-ons, Jagg oil cooler w/ a Lockhart thermostaic control valve, and BDL primary belt drive.

I know of several EVO's (one personally) which kick butt and are as reliable as can be... I have been accumulating several potent engine parts for my next EVO build.... Now I just need a bike (frame) and some money...

Evo's are not slackers, I have a ridin bud that has a 95 Springer-Softail and he stays with my 95" with SE heads Ultra with no problem. I am presently looking for a 95-98 RK or Hetitage to replace the Ultra.

Dutch,

I ride a '97 FLHRI with no performance mods other than air cleaner, Cycle Shacks, and a PCIII to give the "dreaded" MM EFI some help. It runs strong, has been reliable and rides great. I purchased it wth very low mileage and lots of extras at 2/3 the cost of a new one. The frugal Scot in me couldn't justify purchasing a new TC and I can't foresee trading it in. I love the surprised looks on peoples' faces when I tell them it's nearly 10 years old.

My theory for the relative lack of EVO posts is that many of the EVO owners are seasoned riders for whom the novelty has worn off and therefore no longer feel the need to talk about their not-so-recent acquisition. As someone else said, they're too busy riding. That and the sheer number of twinkies sold during the current HD sales boom overshadows the EVOs.

Tom
