I love my old '88. I love it more because I can afford it - $5,000 junk yard dog. I'd like a new toy but I like $25k in my pocket more.

I have been reading alot on the boards here trying to learn what I can. I was given a 1987 FLTC with 15885 miles on it. It has been sitting for 16 years. I rebuilt the carb, put a new Battery in it, cleaned the gas tank and it started right up. Now I need to change the oil and tires. Then its onto the list of chrome to replace and what to paint. The nice thing about an old bike like this is that it is a simple motor, no computers ect...

Just bought my first Harley a 1995 ultra 30th anniversary with 32000 miles. It is a very nice bike very well taken care of. I will enjoy many miles on this beauty, all the glod trim really makes this one stand out. Will post pictures of it when i get my digital camera back.

my 91 electra glide had only 10k on it when i bought it for 10k in march. it kicks butt, is comfortable, handles well, and i've had very few problems, none major. i always wanted a harley, but 29k was just too much for me to save or worse yet, finance. this way i've got a great bike and i'm not up to my neck in debt. the evo pulls great and if taken care of properly can last a long time before a rebuild is needed.

I have to agree with the EVO lovers , GREAT MOTOR !! Just sold my 93 fatboy I am shure going to miss that bike . Never gave me any problems and seen a lot of the country on it. Just thought it was time sell and got a 07 Sg . I can only hope this motor lasts as long and trouble free miles.

ORIGINAL: jsd245...I made the same observation not too long ago. In fact the first time I posted something regarding a problem with my bike (1993 FLHS) one of the replies was " 1993? why don't you get a new bike?".
I've owned my 93 FLHS since new (April 93 delivery). Just turned 47K on it, would have been more...But that's another post. It is my first (and probably last) HD. Unless The MoCo builds the Touring Bike I would drop $25K on. What really bugs me is when a dealer tells you, "We don't like to work on bikes older than 1995." like the place near Flint, MI told me. I guess MMI doesn't teach EVOs anymore (or devote a bunch of time to them) as it seems that a lot of the dealer 'techs' are direct hires from there. You're probably (IMO) on your own if you own a Shovelhead.

ORIGINAL: jsd245...Still an interesting forum to post to with a nice bunch of people, but if your bike is more than a few years old don't expect much help with technical questions...
On the contrary, there is lots of good info and suggestions. If you're ever interested in installing a genuine HD cruise control on your 93 FLHS (HD never offered one), I've done it using the 'factory' kit. Posted it all on this site.

Nothing wrong with the old stuff, other than it's old.

I have a '95 FXDWG EVO, it will probably be the lastest model I will own... As a matter of fact I am looking at going older. I had a '83 FLHTC shovel, I really liked that ol' thing. Had a unique engine sound out of the duals. I am going to look for another, maybe even older one... Ya'll can have the new stuff....

Did they just wear out? Are the riders to old to ride? Are they not fast enough to keep up with the Joneses (and the Screamin' Eagles)?

Just curious about this observation, as I enjoy the forums and have learned a lot of interesting information. But sometimes it seems as if about 80% - 90% of the folks are either on a new scoot or about to buy one (or even ANOTHER one). I'm finding that I need to dig pretty deep to find good discussions about mid 80's to late 90's baggers. Maybe my Ultra will become a true classic sooner than I thought.

Jammin' in the breeze,

Dutch

EVO's rock....i have a 113" in my chop...i love it...it makes stupid power

Got 64K on my '96 Wide Glide. Has never given me any probs. Gotta '07 Roady coming because my 53 year old bod just doesn't wanna go 5-7 K miles touring on the W.G.
Think I'm gonna hang on to the Evo. just for puttin' around the local area.

In June I bought a 98 RKC with 3650 miles on it, stage 1&2, and a ton of chrome and extras from the orginal owner for $10,500.
I have no problems running with the best of them. Long live the EVO.
