Got 64K on my '96 Wide Glide. Has never given me any probs. Gotta '07 Roady coming because my 53 year old bod just doesn't wanna go 5-7 K miles touring on the W.G.
Think I'm gonna hang on to the Evo. just for puttin' around the local area.

i woodn't part with that dyna, it's a beautiful thing! evo's are (already) like frigging dinasuars. here's how strongly i feel about my flstf (especially w/major '07 changes to them),,, even if i became incapacitated, the r' glide wood go bye-bye, and the f' boy wood *** in the house as art and/or a museum piece! yes, quite a chunck of change lying about. but what is the price of art???

Thanks jfanton, that's an awesome Fatboy you got there. I got a guy coming over tomorrow to look at my Dyna, he's interested in buying it. I could use the $$$, but I don't know if I'm ready to part with her yet.
Funny thing last year right before Sturgis ride I ran into an old friend that was on a new R.K. When he saw me on the W.G. he said, "are you still riding that bike?" I just laughed at him, thinking to myself, "yeah, and I'll be riding it when your T.C.88 pukes it's guts on the ground too."

What a post, nailed my thoughts exactly. My '88 Electra Glide Sport FLHS is my first Harley and I have no intention of ever letting it go. I may add another, but will always have this one. I've been watching the newer models and nothing ever turned my crank. I had always figured for what I would have to kick in to buy a new one, I could spend that on mine and have a bike 10 times better than new, worst of all I could park any new bike next to the other 10 that look just like it at any decent sized show. The only new model that turned my head was the Street Glide and before you know it everyone and their mother has one, even a salesman at the local HD dealer said he had thought about getting one until he saw the number of them that they had sold. In my mind, I guess I just have so much respect for riding and the ride to just arbitrarily sell and buy every other year.

almost 129k on my 95 Ultra. Ok did put in a new crate engine at 102 but it wasn't the bikes fault. I changed to different pistons and the shop didn't seat a wrist pin keeper adn it got lout and caused huge scoring on the cylinder. They wanted to just hone it out and I said no way. Told them it wasn't honed when it came in, was running fine and had no metal in the crankcase. So they fired the tech who did my work and ordered me a crate engine.

My plan is to keep riding it until at least 2010 and get me a new one then when the bugs are worked out of the TC96. Then I'll take my 95 and trike it for the wife. She scares me on 4 wheels, I could not think of putting her on 2.

Hi 4X4Given,

Sorry I didn't read all the posts, but thought if you haven't seen the link http://flhrsei.org/ you might want too.

Did they just wear out? Are the riders to old to ride? Are they not fast enough to keep up with the Joneses (and the Screamin' Eagles)?

Just curious about this observation, as I enjoy the forums and have learned a lot of interesting information. But sometimes it seems as if about 80% - 90% of the folks are either on a new scoot or about to buy one (or even ANOTHER one). I'm finding that I need to dig pretty deep to find good discussions about mid 80's to late 90's baggers. Maybe my Ultra will become a true classic sooner than I thought.

Jammin' in the breeze,

Dutch
