I'm considering a used '09 FLHP as a replacement for my FatBoy and was interested in thoughts from those that ride or have ridden a newer model.
What I really want is a Road King Classic, but they're still too pricey for my wallet, and I figure I should be able to swap out the hard bags on an FLHP for a set of used hard leather bags. That way I'll have the look I want for what should be a few grand under an equivalant RKC (minus the standard cruise).
I have a 2009 FLHP and I love mine. I just saw a set of leather rkc bags for sale in the classified section. Ya you may not be getting cruise but you are getting a 103, abs, tach, oil cooler, heritage style bars. They are a great value as you are finding out. A blank canvas to make your own.
I own an 09 FLHTP. I really wanted a SG but after buying the "P" and converting it to a SG came in at about $18500. With all the parts and now I have a Kickass 103 ci SG with ABS, Oil Cooler for at least 4K less than if I bought a SG and upgraded to 103. Added a PC-V, V&H slipons and Fuel Moto Air In and it moves.
I bought my 07 FLHP last summer. It was retired after 18 months service in Seminole county, FL. It was such a deal, I couldn't pass it up. They are pretty sluggish in stock form, but wake up nicely with a stage I treatment. I changed out tins this winter and added a Dragonfly detachable fairing. I still have a little bit left to do (painting saddlebags to match, changing cams).
