In my humble opinion the Harley air ride suspension sucks... I had mine for a year and went to progressive 11 1/2 and never looked back I absolutely hated the air shocks very inferior system to my liking... Just my 2 cents but load up the bike sometime and take a trip you will hit bottom about every time you hit a good bump in the road...!!!!

I am so glad to hear you say that because i was getting ready to send my money off to get that air ride but went to the local harley dealer and talked with guy their who told me about the 11.5" new progressive 440 and so i bought it today and to hear you say this i feel even more better at my decision.

Much more stable and as soon as I put them on my wife (that is on the back almost every time I leave the driveway)... said you sure made a difference in this bike ride !!!!! So made momma happy myself much, much, more happy !!!!! Don't know why it took me a year to get smart.....

Can you tell me when adjusting them was it fairly easy in firming them up and were sitting lower in the rear?

Yes and yes, the hardest thing to adjust them when I want to firm them up was removing the bags......!!!!!

The Progressive is probably the better shock, but having to remove the saddle-bags to make an adjustment is exactly why I went with the Profile Low. Changing the setting for solo, riding with my son, riding with my wife, I figured it was only a matter of time before I'd scratch up the bags. With the Profile Low, I only open the lid on one saddle-bag to make an air adjustment. If I actually set the air pressure correctly based on the load, can't say that my bike bottoms out like others have stated.

Just hate to see ya spend the $280. or so & not be happy.
I also put SG shocks ($100.00 off ebay) on my EG. The thing I found out was, you'll need to get rid of the stock oil in the shock and replace it with some good (Amsoil Shock Therapy) suspension oil. The stock oil is 5#, I went to a 7# oil. This made all the difference in the world. I also ride 15-20lbs solo and 25-30lbs loaded. Of course the HD Stealer doesn't carry replacement shock oil, they'd rather sell ya the whole shock. You can also find suspension oil (not fork oil) at your local Rice Burner or V_ctory shops. There are threads regarding shock oil changing in this forum, just do a search...pretty easy stuff. Of course this is just my 2 cents worth.

I wrote Progressive about the 440's and they recommended the 940's instead. It's a 13" shock, but the ride height is the same as a 12" shock.

I also used the rear drop block for awhile....my drop block had 3 settings, 1",2" and 3". I set it at 2"......tire rubbed on good bumps. I ride 2 up and loaded alot. If you're ridin 1 up, I see no need to change your set up. I'm just sayin, from my experience and reading in this forum, the changing of oil and the use of SG shocks has helped me achieve my lowering and ride quality.
