I always take the grab strap off and throw it away. Looks better without it and makes it much easier to take the seat off.
I haven't seen this new low touring seat in person but I found some pics. Based on the pics I saw, I'll continue looking for an aftermarket seat.

Someone who has had the new seat please let the rest of us know if the seat is more comfortable than the old.

I only have about 300 miles on the new, lower seat but it seems about the same (comfort wise) as the original seat. Wife says no difference except she can see over my head now and doesn't need to look around me to see. FWIW they are selling the new lower seat at Wisconsin Harley for $154 until the end of April. (grab strap extra)

the old strap from the original seat fits fine.
the low seat is plenty comfortable. i have logged close to 2000 miles on it, with trips in the 200 mile range being quite pleasurable. the OL concurs.

Yep, no grab strap included. Use the old one if you want. The rear mounting tab is already attached. As far as comfort, I never spent enough time on the old seat to know for sure. I can tell you the new seat is at least 1" lower which makes it a whole lot easier to maneuver the bike around and the seat is narrower at the front also. It comes up a lot higher on the tank than the old seat also. I think the comfort is OK, but not great. Most stock seats suck anyway. I will try it for a few hundred miles and see if I need to order a Mustang or not.

Here we go with this BS again.

That strap ain't got crap ta do with the warranty. All it does is make taking the seat off 15 minute job instead of 15 seconds. Throw the damn thing away. The MoCo probably quit including the straps so they can milk a few more bucks out of whoever feels the need to have one.

lol.
the strap adds no more than 30 seconds to the job. one minute if you are screwdriver retarded. open the left hard bag, and unscrew one phillips. it comes out and flops over the seat.

how silly is that.

it is slightly more challenging than changing the blinker fluid, or the muffler bearings.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) is a United States federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.) does not cover seat straps... snopes confirmed.

I'm only gonna say this once people................The ONLY way ANY modification will void a warranty is if THAT modification is proven to be the cause of the problem you are trying to get covered under warranty. And then it doesn't void the entire warranty, they just won't cover RELATED items. In other words, they can't "void" your warranty on the ignition switch just because you put an aftermarket exhaust on. If your motor grenades, they can't refuse to cover it under warranty because you took the silly grab strap of your frickin' seat.
