If you are bar hopping, get the RK. If you are doing overnights and want tunes, get the RG.
I went from a Deuce to a RG and have never looked back. Got the detachable King Tour Pak for when the wife wants to ride with me and it comes off in < 5 minutes when I am going solo.
My friends who have RKs have put on windshields and some have added tour paks. So like I said, it depends more on your riding style / needs.
Road Kings come with windshields. I've done overnight trips with my RKC just fine. To say that the RK, a touring bike, is a bar hopper is just silly.
No matter what the dissentors say the RG is just flat out better for bigger bodied humans than the RK. I have many thousands of miles on both machines and at 6'3" and 240lbs I would MUCH rather spend serious seat time on a RG. It's not just a rumor either that they are the best handling bikes HD makes. Guess that's why when it was time to plunk down my hard earned recently on a newly redesigned 2009 I bought a Roadie and not a King!
Ummm... You're high. Underneath all of the plastic and fiberglass, they're the same bike.
he does have a point. even though they are the same bike, the road glide fairing feels more 'expansive' because it is not right in your face like the batwing fairings are. but, as i said before, and others have also stated, fundamentally, they are the same bike.
Great bikes.......tough choice. You can add a fairing/tunes to a RK but IMO why? If you want the fairing/tunes I would definitely go RG. If you like the classic look, tunes aren't of concern, go with the King.
I love my RKC but next bike will probably be the RG in a couple of years. Am I sorry I bought the RKC 1st? Heck no!!
Ummm... You're high. Underneath all of the plastic and fiberglass, they're the same bike.
I put about zero stock in what you are saying ftanner because you obviously don't know s*#t about this topic!
Ride the bikes back to back and tell me they even feel anything CLOSE to being the same bike.
Like I said in an earlier post...I've got thousands of miles on both machines (owned a RK for three years and am now on my 2nd RG.) How 'bout you...ever even rode a RG?
Me thinks you're the one smokin' banana peels pal.
Have a 2007 RG and have enjoyed every minute of it. Not any experience with RK and it probably suits each individuals needs. As for fugly, I figured I didn't mind not looking like every other rider on the highway and as an individual why would I want to. As long as the title says 'harley' it matters not what model.
Hey Folks; I haven't been on here in some time, however I have a dilemma (a good one I guess) and am looking for some pros/cons from those in the know. Looking at handing off the '04 Fatty to the wife, and buying myself a new ride. (at her suggestion, believe it or not!) Originally started looking at the Road King (Std or Classic) but sales guy suggested I give the Road Glide a try instead. Not a whole lot more $$$, but seemingly much more bike. Now, instead of having to decide between the two models of RK, I'm trying to decide between the RK (either variety) or the RG. Anyone out there who has experience with both?? Pros/cons of either bike? I dig the more classic styling of the RK, but like the bonus features on the RG. Any comments, for or against either machine are appreciated. Just looking for some info from those in the know. (P.S. I've tried an RK on a Harley Ride Day, but have zero time on the RG...) Thanks to all who respond for their time.
Put equal amount of time in the saddle of a Road Glide as you did the
Road King.....then you can decide which fits your riding style better.
Personally, I ordered mine 2 years ago without having sat on or
ridden a HD before.......and am extremely pleased with my f'ugly
sharknosed, redheaded stepchild of a bike.
I have never had a second thought of " did I buy the right bike ?? "
Buy what turns you on. All the HD's are good bikes it's just finding the one that's best for you. I don't care what everyone else wants. My bike is for Me not them.
I went to the dealership the other day to see if there was anything there that would make me want to trade in my Road Glide. There wasn't I'm still happy with my bike.
I hope you feel the same way with whatever you buy.
