It may not be BS when they say they have never heard of such a thing. I've been riding and wrenching on EG's for a long time, and this is the first I've ever heard of it. Seems like it has only been on the newer bikes. Could be another deal like the motor mounts, and they got a bad bactch from someone. Heck, I've had many wrecked EG's apart with the same brackets bent, but still not broken. Who knows, just another one of those things.

Funny I should find this thread tonight. A friend asked me to change out his speakers before they left for Sturgis. Brought the bike over last night & I pulled the fairing. This is an 04 FF Classic with 6000 miles. Left bracket was broke... Couldn't get a new piece in time for them to leave this morning so we welded it & put a little extra in there. What kinda damage you suppose it would have done to run from Cleveland to Sturgis & back with that broken bracket...

06 sg, mine were found broken at the 1000 mile service. dealer said a lot of this was going on and that the new factory brackets were make of heavier metal. Originals were very thin, lite gage.

Ok, so no one had the part number, no biggie. I was sure I had the same problem on the left side. Yesterday, while out on a short road cruise, 300 miles, with more to go, I stopped in at the AV Harley Davidson dealership on the spur of the moment, because the fairing "clunking" and rattling was getting worse. Dennis the service writer had one of the techs, Jimmy, take a quick look, and also thought something was loose in there, but he thought it might be a wire. They were completely booked up for days, and were short handed, but Dennis said to have it there this AM at 8:00 AM. So I went back with the bike this AM as he suggested. Jimmy took the bike right in, pulled the outer fairing, and a came looking for me in the lounge/waiting area, and said, "found the problem, come into the service area so I can show you". Sure enough, the left upper inner fairing bracket was snapped off, and the right one was a little bent. He said he would have parts dept order the bracket, and call me when it was in, and that I would then need to call service and set up an appointment. A minute or two later, Dennis tells me, "guess what, we have it in stock". [sm=happy046.gif] So an hour later, the job is done, they then say the bike is being washed. I hand Dennis my extended service card, and he says, "nah, give me $10.01 for the bracket, and we're doing the labor for free. Would you rather pay 10 bucks for the part, or 50 bucks for a warranty deductable?" I'm like, man! this is my lucky day!

Anyway, wanted to put in a huge word for AV HD. They went way out of their way to help me while I was on the road, and then didn't even charge me for any labor. Then to top it off, they wash my bike for me! AV HD service dep't rocks! [sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=thanx.gif]
