Default More Accurate Calibration

I know everyone is use to the fuel gauges on their particular bike but I wish Harley could have done a better job calibrating the accuracy of the fuel gauge on the Ultra CLassic.

125 to 135 miles by the time the fuel gauge needle reaches the half way mark. After that, it doesn't take long for the needle to get on empty.

I know, I know, you're just going to say, Get use to it. You're right I'm use to it already but you would think that as much as these machines cost, they could do a better job.

Although, there are other parts of the bike that may need more attention. Just venting!

It's not just the fuel gauge...on my bike the odometer is off. It says I've gone further than I have by about 43 miles in 40 miles...checked it against highway markers while touring I'm also going slower than the speedo says by a couple of miles per hour at 60 mph.

For 20K you would think they could make it right. I had a 95 flhtc that hat the fuel guage on the money.

Yes, the fuel gauge float usually needs a little adjusting for it to be "on the money". Mine was WAY off when I got it. I whined enough about it and bought the dealership a 1 gallon gas can. Had 'em drain the tank to bone dry, add 2.5 gallons of fuel and adjust the float so it read half full on the gauge. Done......and as accurate as this technology allows. As for the odometer....well, they are all just a little different. Identical bikes can go the exact same distance and come up with a little difference in mileage....tire pressure can make a difference, albeit a small one. I hooked up a GPS to my RG and found a 3 mph "slow" reading on the speedo at 70.....so I'm really going 67. Cool. Much rather be on that side of the speedo than the other.

I've had mine in five times - stealer said they won't adjust half way with 2.5 gals. Going to wait until warranty expires and fix it myself.

I assume you just bend the float rod?

But, I agree, for to price we put out, you would think that at least the things that "interface" with the rider are accurate. But, guess the MoCo is more interested in profit than customer satisfaction (otherwise, they would have developed a one-time fix).

Mine takes 60 miles to more from full, it's 150 at half, and then goes to near empty at like 180 (that's 30 miles from half to empty).
