I will give you one more piece of advice...

Go and get yourself a copy of Ride Like A Pro, and watch it with the wife. She may not be too interested at first, but throw it in a few times when nothing else is on. Also go ahead and pop for Surviving the mean streets, it has a section in there for two up riding. I have a friend who's wife did not want anything to do with the bike, thought he was crazy for riding, and they are now talking about getting her a bike of her own. The videos piqued her interest and got her on the bike. Besides, they are great educational videos.

As others have said, "I feel your pain". My wife has ridden behind me for over 28 years and has loved every bit of it. Well, almost every bit of it. Now she has health problems which cause her to not be able to ride as often or as far as we used to. She still hangs in there and still wants to go every time she hears me fire up the bike. She has been my partner for all these years and now I'm facing the possibility of maybe riding alone at least some of the time. I hope that time doesn't come because I have always wanted her with me. Here's hoping that she can continue for a long time to come.

There are many combinations of the situation you talk about. Some wives simply will not have any part of motorcycling, some eventually come around and still others absolutely love it. As has been said, make the offer but don't push her. She has valid concerns or at least they are valid to her. I hope that one day she will come to know the freedom and pleasure to be had from being in the wind as mine does. Ride Safe!!

Good suggestion. In fact, I ordered the CD, and received it last week. This past weekend I played the CD...she stopped in mid way through the video, sat and watched the rest! I'll see what the future holds. Thanks.

My wife used to ride while I was stationed in Italy. That was 30 years ago. Just recently there was a ride from a Dealer to the San Diego Fair. The ride leader (grand marshall) was the environmental artist Wyland. Well my wife could not resist meeting him so she went on the ride with me. Since then she has only ridden twice on short rides.

So try and find a ride which involves something she can't resist, if that is possible.

My Bike!! and I like it like that. As far as I'm concerned, it the wife decides she wants to ride now, she better get her own bike. I love the look of "My Bike" with the solo seat.

In 5 years of marriage, my wife rode with me only once. Never again. Riding isn't her thing. She has zero desire to be on the back of a motorcycle. I don't see that ever changing. At least she supports my interest in motorcycles and never tries to guilt me for leaving her at home while I go out riding.

Ride solo and enjoy it! My Mrs of 14 years rode all the time with me when we were dating and engaged. Before the kids came she would call me up at work and ask to ride. As the little ankle biters arrived, the rides got less and less. Now a days, she may go for a ride once or twice a year.

As long as she doesn't get all over you and pressure you not to ride, count your blessings, and go ride !

My wife has always refused to ride with me too. That's why it took so long to get my first bike. She always said that if I buy a bike I had to buy 2. One for me and one for her. She likes to ride but not behind anyone. Then the only problem was the kids, they always fought about who had to ride with her. They don't think she's as good a rider. I agree, I've been trying to send her to the MSF class but so far no luck. Of course since my scoot got stolen, we no longer have all of these problems. Man do I miss those problems.

My wife rides but can't for longer distances over 2-3 hours. So when we go away, I trailer. She's happy and we still get to ride when we get there. Maybe it's not her thing, hopefully you have other things to do together. At least she let's you ride. Wait until she asks you to get a solo seat.
