I have the HD brand of the lid protectors.
I installed them in 2006, took em of in 2009. The Saddle Bag Lids looked brand new when I took em off......I just wanted a different look, and my wife hasn't been riding with me, that's why I removed them.
In the one season of riding with out them, the lids have gotten a couple of nicks from road debris, and some light scratches.

Yes I have those, and yes I LOVE THEM!!! For the money, you get a lot more with the saddlemen ones over any other brand out there. The added storage is nice to when I don't want to bring the tour pak along.

Well worth the money, and high quality! The only thing that kinda stinks, is it says that "the storage bags when installed won't effect or hit the tour pak". That must be without using the detach kit, or something changed in 2010, because my road glide custom with the quick detach 2-up king tour pak, the storage pouches sit right against the tour pak. Not a problem, just makes it kind of a pain to open the saddlebags.

I've got them and I really like them. The lid covers do have velcro to hold them on and I haven't had them in really warm weather yet. So it remains to be seen how well they hold up in the heat. But, the bags are outstanding.

I have thought about getting the Mustang lid covers, that are held on by the elastic pieces. The sewing the platic d-ring on the mustang lid covers similarly to the way the Saddlemen covers are. If I have problems with the velcro that is....

Good piece of gear though. I can fit my leather jacket in one and my chaps in the other with some more on top of that. Frees up a lot of space in the bags.

Glad to hear positive reviews. Does anyone have a pic with them on your bike as the ones on the web site are pretty small and make it hard to see what they would look like installed.

Yeah you can open it still. I think that Saddlemen haven't tried it on the 09-10 bikes Im guessing, when they say it won't interfere with the tour pak. Thats why I said above, not sure if its because I have a quick detach, or its the year of bike or what.. maybe thats the way they are supposed to be. It doesnt bother me, the tourpak is protected right there anyhow so its not rubbing paint or anything
