Don't do it! About 12 years ago, the MOCO found some grease zerks and decided to put them on the neck so they could raise the price $500. Improvement???

the bearings are packed when the bike is put together. if you study where the grease zert is, verses where the bearings are, it does make no sense at all why they designed it that way. dawg i believe said that he'd seen bikes with 60k miles and never been greased, relying only on the grease that harley used when they packed the bearings, and no issues at all.

Filled the neck up with a high temp lithium grease. Doesn't take a lot to keep it full.

No running grease and I ride in some pretty hot weather. Would prefer to have those bearings full of grease than not.

I'm another pumper till she's full kinda guy. Every now and then, I give mine a few fresh squirts until I see grease popping outta the bottom. Never had an issue with it getting hot and running all over the place. It's been working so far for the past 10 years and 77k miles....Pumped full or not, those bearing should last for many years and miles with no issues as long as you keep the pressure washer away from them.

I noticed the left fork bell had an oily sheen and quickly discovered the source was grease from the neck. It's not been above 55 degrees here yet . . .

Hey! Lets start a grease thread like an oil thread. I use redline grease and fill it till it leaks out the bottom. No runs, drips, or errors. Try that with amsoil.

I'd rather not add a pound of weight if I don't have to. How hard can it be to open up the neck and grease them properly? Plus you are checking to make sure there's no metal. And I wonder if we couldn't do a mod to make it easier?

Years back I had a Triumph front end get stiff on me on an old 750 I'd bought, due to a bad case of LackaLube. I had a very scary moment in traffic that just came out of nowhere, so I pay attention to these little details nowadays.
