Default Blown Engine???

I just reciently returned my 2009 RK back to stock as far as engine mods go I did the mods to enhance performance a bit and to cool the engine off a little. I took off the Rineharts, S/E air cleaner, and PC-V. I was not satisfied with the performance and the sound of the pipes, however I still have the HD prem. Oil cooler and I am running Amsoil 20w-50. My question is with all of the talk about how hott the 2009 and 2010 run due to being set at A/F ratio of 14.6:1. Has anyone experienced any major problems or blown engine due to overheating cause i just believe the proof is in the pudding, and yes i did a search there is jus not enough useable info before the threads go to hell. I guess it would help to list what mods you are running, if any, and mileage.

Personally I beleive you are just ruining a perfectly good bike. The more you mess with it the more you will spend and the less you like the end result. I live in California so my 09 has the cat. Heat is not not a problem.

The point to ride the bike not sit idle. If you are moving you are cooling.

Bottom line some guys should not fix what is not broken.

I'm running virtually the same set-up without ANY heat issues. Sounds like you need to find a good tuner!

I went back to stock because I was not satisfied with the performance after i had done all the mods. The bike just runs better now, being stock that is, I have been riding during the winter and the temp have not been a problem but I am sure this will change in the summer.

wow, man you gotta do what you feel is right for you, but honestly you made improvements to your bike. the problem was obviously that you were using a canned map in the pcv. if so, then you weren't happy with the results. the improvements allowed more air into the motor and more out. the only weak link in that chain was the tuning of the power commander. it will not run cooler stock than it did with the freer flowing intake and exhaust. but it's your bike, and if you believe it runs better now and if that makes you happy, then i guess that's a good thing.

More info please.

1. Rhinehart true duals? True duals without other mods would decrease TQ slightly but, not enough probably for you to notice. Sound is subjective, you either like it or don't.

2. Canned map from Fuelmoto?

There are plenty of people running stock bikes without having problems or having to worry about the engine "blowing up".

you won't fry your motor. there's plenty running their bikes stock without any problems, me included. I've not encountered it being too hot either. is it hotter than the 2003 heritage I owned, yes, but it's a bigger motor so will give off more heat. no roasted nuts here.
