Default muffler rubber mounts

07 RKC. Right side rubber muffler mount has slight play in it. Planned on simply buying new and replaceing. Just switched the rubber from the left side that has no play and realized the rubber is not causing the play the mount is slightly larger on the right side.
My question is could this play be into the the bracket designed to allow for heat expansion and vibration?

That's what the service manager at my local Dealer told me. I asked him about the right side having play, he said it was for expanding when heated up. He said more exhaust comes out the right muffler.

It was just the opposite with my 07 RK. The service manager told me both mufflers should be tight so I went out to the showroom and started shaking mufflers and I couldn't find any that were loose left or right.

My left one is a little loose.

Mine aren't rigid, they can be moved by hand slightly. I think that should be normal, otherwise they would be clamped down with metal. Anyone else know for sure.

The metel can be bent with Channelocks to remove the slop.

Did that to my buddies bike when we replaced his rubber mounts. The rubber mounts get hard and shrink with the constant heat.

I had this same issue on both sides i took some 1/16 left side and some 1/8 right side O-ring material and pushed it between the rubber and metal hanger this stop all movement but allowes the muffler to expand and contract with heat cost 25 cents.

I installed a piece of 1/8 inch S/S. Drilled two holes to fit the mounting bracket on the muffler. Took all the play out. That was 40,000 miles and 20 months ago. Still tight.
