Ok i have read til my eyes are crossed and can't find the specific answer to my question - so i am asking the experts here
if my hd rim is 18 x 3.5 & dunlop recommends using a 3.00 rim for their 130/70b-18 elite 3 tire - what problems will i encounter if i use them together - does .50 make that much difference? With an elite 3 on the rear i really would like to use an elite 3 on the front. Thanks for your comments
It will work fine, I have a 3.5 & have run both a 130 & a 140 with no problem, I know of others who have run a 130 on a 4.25 rim & it worked, but that's pushing the matter.
I ran a 3" stock fatboy rim on the rear of my Wide Glide for years. I ran it with a 150 Metzler. Metzler says a 150 should go on a 3.5 rim width and using a 3" was pushing it. I had three tires on that rim and they all had very bad cupping issues. Was it the fault of the rim??? I really don't know. Tire pressure was watched all the time. There were no burn outs or hard riding. There was nothing mis aligned either. SO does a 1/2 matter..... Just maybe....
