215F is the ideal temp.

200-220 would be in the ball park. i used to have a bike that would have been up to 230 after a ride like that. It was far from stock though.

I cut an article out of a magazine called "American Iron". Some may have heard of it.
Anyhow, a guy asked a question about oil temps...on his twin cam fatboy, running 80 MPH. Around town, the temp was 220F....at 80MPH the temp would go to 250.
WQell, the magazine staff said in so many words...."Why do you want to cool it down. Those temps are right on the money. If you can ride your bike for hours at a time at 80 MPH and it only goes to 250, be happy!"
15 miles...70 degrees...you might get 200 degrees? (don't know if it is stop and go or what)...I ride 7 miles to work and lucky to get up to 170)

chuck the mensh (haven't used my temp gauge in quite awhile)

Mine has never gone over 260* on the hottest nastiest traffic day. Ran through S Georgia when temps were 103* F @ 80 mph and oil temps never went above 240*. HD says 300* oil temp is not a problem.

Long answer: Regardless of your setup, you'll want your oil temp to be between 180 and 220 under normal (ideal) riding conditions. Twin Cams run about 230 stock but can get considerably hotter in extreme conditions such as stop and go traffic or riding over a mountain pass.

Short answer: Don't worry too much about it, just keep it lubed and keep it moving and you'll be fine.
