I have 2010 Road King with the hard bags. So far I added the CVO convertible tach/speedo gauge (looks and works great) and a stealth luggage rack (little pricey but I fell it gives my bike a streamlined and finished look).
My question is that sometimes I would like to strip her down for city cruising. I take the windshield off and was wondering if there is a way to take the bags of along with the rear crush bars and bag mounting frame. The biggest problem would be that the mufflers are attached to the mounting frame and I think they are to heavy to run without the rear support.
So, does anybody know of a conversion kit that installs quickly or maybe an exhaust that does not require the rear brackets?
Whenever I have a drag race that needs a little more insurance the shield comes off.The bike looks great dressed or not,you gotta love those Road Kings!
There is a guy at work who has a bagless RK Custom and it looks really good. He uses the bag rails and to me it doesn't take away from the look. But I think the key to what makes is bike look good is he removed the engine guard and replaced the floorboards with forward controls. Sharp looking bike.
I've seen pics of both the bruisers and the quickexcessories bikes. Neither approach is horrible, but neither one made me want to run out and buy their products. You might consider getting a set of the leather bags. No windshield and the leather bags will give your RK a stripped down, old school look.
