FLHTCU shock replacement
While check my rear tire pressuire, I noticed the rubber dust seal
on my 04's shocks cracking. My bike has 37K on the odometer, and
I am looking for new shocks. Any ideas/makes/model numbers?
Saw some Progressive shocks on-line for $600 a pair.....and said
"Holy Crap!" (I can see why some people are going towards Bobbers with
hardtails.)
Hard to believe I can get new OEM and save money.

You might find yourself flooded with replies to this one! Shocks get raised as often as oil so you really should get yourself a long drink and cruise through some of the recent threads.
There are a lot of shocks out there to choose from. If you ride mostly solo buy what takes your fancy. But if you ride often with the love of your life on the back, you should be prepared to dig deep. Stock shocks and most aftermarket ones are very poor when riding 2-up as they have no more than 2 inches of travel to provide a comfortable ride. Takes a lot of quality to control a heavy bike with so little to work on! Quality ain't cheap....

If you had no issues with the ride of stock HD shocks then just look in the classifieds here on the forum or ebay and you can pick up a used set for under a $100.
As far as the dust seal goes...if the shock isn't leaking and still holds pressure there is nothing functionally wrong with it. I guess it all depends how **** you are about having perfect rubber dust cover.
