I love riding in the smokey's, but if I were coming to the States to ride and it was a once in a life time trip, I would head west and see the Rockies, Zion, Yosimite, Sequoia Natl. Forest, Black Hills, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon.

That is a wonderful area, and I agree with the tip. I have travelled quite extensively in the US and was fortunate to do a lot of what u describe on a Heritage back in '91.

These are advertised as campgrounds, but all have rooms or cabins available if you reserve in advance. Nearly everything in the Smokey mountains is "motorcycle friendly", so almost any hotel/motel/B&B you pick will be fine. Google can find an enormous number of places in that area for you.
Your daily mileage will vary depending on what you want to see, but it's a much smaller area than it appears. You can cover a lot of it each day & still have more for the next day.
