So,everytime i run up to 100mph for more than a minute, I end up w oil (1 qt)all over the engine, bag, rear wheel/brake, my butt !!! THe question...is it getting sucked out the breather line by air flowing into the carb or what. Its a 01 RoaDkING Carb'd with stage 1. Your help is appreciated
I believe I would not go 100mph if I knew oil would get all over the rear tire, but that is just me.
As for you, what rpm are you turning when you are doing 100mph? If you run the bike in a lower gear at that same rpm, do you have the same problem with oil blowing out? If you still have the oil issue, you probably have some type of blow-by (possibly worn rings). If you don't have the oil issue, look for a vent that could be creating a vacuum and sucking oil out of the tank at high speeds. Sorry, that is all I can offer.
I also have a 2001 Road King. I ride hard alot and some oil comes out, but not any measurable amount like a quart. The motor is an air pump and your air pump has some seal problems. A little blow by is normal at high speeds. Not a quart though. Clean the engine and run up to your high speed for a short spin. Then check around and find out where the oil is coming from. It can not run forward when you are, so follow it with that in mind. Good Luck.
I would question whether you really lose a quart, but for sure your blowing oil. It used to happen on mine at high speed. What is happening is the intake is sucking the oil out of the rocker boxes thru the port in the cyl head. What I had to do is block the holes on the back of the air cleaner and vent the cylinder heads to an external filter mounted down on my frame. This link... http://www.cas4.com/engine/engine-cr...r-valves2.html has several different types listed. There are many places where you can buy them I just pulled the first one that popped on google. As for those that say slow down, each his own, I ride fast too. 125 CI Revtech in a 95 FatBoy
As for the amount of oil lost some is probably getting burned thru combustion, re-ring it and add the filter/breather and your problems will be solved.
