Alright, he we go, I have a 2008 Street glide with ABS, and I just put on paul yaffe monkey bars. I initially got the bars and I was going to install them myself but had trouble wiring them so I sent them and my controls back to Paul Yaffe Originals for them to wire so all I had to do was plug them in and go. I received the bars today and I plugged everything in and wired the heated hangrips which I also had PYO install. The wiring directions for wiring the heated handgrips from Harley were marginal at best, so I installed them to the best of my abilities. After all of the installs, and before I bolted everything back on for good I decided I would check to see if everything was going to work and to my suprise nothing at all works, my bike is completely dead with the exception of the Security system blinking red key on the speedo. The bike acts like the ignition switch is not turning on but it is clicking like it normally does when I turn it. Just some FYI--I had to remove the outer fairing, inner ignition cap, Ignition switch, fuel tank, side panels, exhaust, and seat.
I also put a new brake line on for the taller bars. the brake line ran from the bars back to the ABS module underneath and to the right of the seat. I also installed a new clutch cable.
One area of concern is that the directions for the heated handgrips said to install the wire into the P&A ignition slot and there was already a 15 amp fuse in there but it was not hooked to anyting.
Was it the flux capacitor? Sounds like you have to check your wires and make sure they are each plugged correctly into the connectors themselves. Manual is a good help. You said you fixed it, what was the prob?
I had a very similar experience when I put on the Harley touring pullback bars along with heated handgrips. While I had everything apart I thought I would temporarily put in the ignition key housing and turn it on to check things. No power, no nothing. I figured that since I still had a couple of items unplugged such as the radio that maybe it wouldn't start up. So, I started putting everything back together. During the process, I got my forks locked, so I tried messing with the switch again to get it unlocked. After 15 minutes of swearing and wondering what the hell I was going to do next I finally got the switch working right and the forks unlocked. The only thing i can think of is that when I temporary put the switch mechanism back in I got something out of alignment.
