I dont understand the theory behind apes. I have an ultra classic and a Fatboy and have never considered apes. To ride with these things looks so uncomfortable.
I dont know am I missing something here? Riding in comfort seems to be the way especially on long runs.
Any feedback about the advantage of ape bars would be appreciated.
Hunchin' over with super short bars beats the snot outta ya. Super tall apes (anything over 16" IMHO) cause the hands to go numb over time. Something in the 10-14" range generally put the rider in a nice comfy position.
I guess the question needs to be answered have you ever rode a bike with apes? You could ask why to millions of things, but once you try them you might like them? There are two reasons to go with apes, and that is cause they are cool, and the other reason and more importantly is because they are far more comfortable! No slouching with apes!
For me they help to keep me from leaning forward and it also made the bike feel more nimble and had a lighter feel. Try it, you might like it. My only regret is I didn't go with taller one's!
