They simply must have their debt and union labor deals re-negotiated or broken altogether. The timid approach they took to the York plant is simply not reflecting the reality of their business situation with revenues down 45%, income down 90% and WW HD bike shipments down 55%.
A second year of that kind of performance without far deeper cuts then they have taken so far, will result in nothing short of bankruptcy. It would appear the vultures are circling HD to see how cheap they can buy it in order to clean house of the current management, union agreements and bring some sanity to the overall balance sheet.

Very sorry to hear that. Used Harleys are bringing top dollar here in the northwest and i am very happy i have my 09 Ultra. I hope they don't go the way of GM and Chrysler.
I agree that it'll be sad but folks need to start coming to grips with the fact that ultimately there will be ramifications when the workers at a plant go on strike 3 times in less than 8 yrs and still demand wages and benefits that are no longer supported by the business.
Unfortunately, I and many others are simply out of empathy for union workers like those at the York plant (and GM and Chrysler and the textile industry and the list goes on & on) that refuse to have any accountability for the financial shape that HD currently finds itself in.

it's all a plot!!! I remember when AMF bought out Harley Davidson and destroyed the bike and company. After AMF bought the company the bike went to crap. You had to ride 2 up the second rider had to be a mechanic so after it broke down he would be on board to fix it. After the company was weakened, Harley Davidson decided to resurrect the image again and bought it back to make it what it is today. It's the old story sell high and buy back low. Simple economics 101. If the rumor is true , to me that would be the game plan.
