I've been wearing the ACC polo for a year now. It took me three stops to get it adjusted to where it would not lift at 95 mph with no windshield on my Road King. My HD half helmet was like parachute when I rode without the windshield.
Yes they issued a recall on the 26rd of March 2010. Of course I didnt find out about this till today and guess what ACC has gone belly up. I just called my amex CS and have them contacting ACC to get my $$ back. I don't want to wear a unsafe helmet...even if it is the best helmet I have ever come in contact with.
Well, while you can still find ACC helmets out there, I just checked and as was posted on the big ACC Helmet recall link in the Gen Discussion, ACC has closed their doors and no longer have a good phone number or web site up and going.
Deranged Choppers still has some at excellent prices. I want a "Daffy" as I have a good windshield and I like the sun protection. Lots of kayak supply houses still stock some of their non DOT rated helmets. But none are really DOT as they have been slammed several times for failing testing.
