funny....you have a choice to either wear/not wear a helmet, but don't have a choice to defend your 2nd ammendment right! can't really chose to own/carry a gun but can chose to get ur head smashed in if ur in an unfortunate accident (which I hope none of us are ever in). We can go w/out helmets in TX too, but I chose to wear one when I ride
I knew the bill that was to require 18 year olds and under was voted down yesterday, but I hadn't heard that the second bill had been called to a vote yet. The second bill was for everyone, not just 18 and under.
Permit holders are required to wear a helmet here.......not sure
if there is a law pertaining to riders under 20 years old required
to wear or not.
Other than that, its personal choice here in Maine........some times I do,
and other times I don't........not sure why that is either !!!
Having been in a bad accident 9 years ago, with my wife unconscious and
unresponsive on the hiway after hitting her head on the pavement......You
would think we'd strap one on every time we get on the bike, but we don't.
This has nothing to do with touring bikes but... I believe the main reason we dont have a helmet law here is because our Abate is HUGE and they spend a lot of money on legislation! Soooo happy to have a choice on the matter and my choice is to NOT wear it!
I was going to metion that but as I read through I came across your post and I do agree, the only reason Illinois doesn't have a helmet law is due to ABATE.
