If you keep it in a garage where it's secure, you mostly need to worry about leaving it unattended away from the house. If you have the security-system and lock the forks, it will be very hard to steal, especially in broad-daylight, say at a restaurant. If parked overnight at a motel the bike is in more jeopardy, so you might want to add the remote for the alarm that alerts you when it is tampered with.

Also, about 15 years ago I bought a Cobra Link, which are no longer being made, which is a very secure cable-locking "chain" that I sometimes carry on trips.

The problem with these is that they are heavy and don't fold in a particularly compact way, which may be why they feel out of grace. I can just loop it from my bike's wheel to the next bike or a post and the thieves will really have problems stealing the bike. There are other devices like rotor locks, etc., too. The more obstacles like this you add to the mix the less-likely thieves will bother. Of course, nothing is 100% theft-proof when dealing with the determined thief.

Lately there has been a rash of garage thefts.

You are out strutting you stuff on your cool bike minding your own business.
"They" spot you and your wicked bike looking all sexy and cool in your vest with 1000 Hog pins.
"They" loosely follow you home and circle the corner and wait as you park that magnificent machine in your unsecured garage.
You go inside to bask in your utter awesome-ness of just riding 10 whole miles to bike night.
They pounce! on your bike because you like 99% of bikers leave your FOB in the bike and bike unlocked...

Sucker.

If they want it, they'll take it. I rely on two things: Insurance and my Springfield Arms XD40 Subcompact and I've got zero issues in using it as required.

The funny part is your 30,000 dollar store-bought SG is only worth 5000 dollars in street parts . . . if that . . . so don't worry so much about being robbed. That already happened!

I'm not worried about mine being stolen.
It's worth more stolen than sitting in the garage.
I welcome the thought!

I agree, if they want it they will take it, had a buddy that got a his bike stolen a few years back at Datona, in the middle of the day, and when he reported it the cops said that there was a crew of guys using a moving truck with a greased ramp, just push it up the ramp, it wouldnt matter if the forks were locked or cable locked or alarmed... they just push it up the ramp and drive away... it makes for a long bike week when you aint got a bike...

I've also heard of the greased ramp. And that was 35 years ago!
