If parked overnight at a motel the bike is in more jeopardy, so you might want to add the remote for the alarm that alerts you when it is tampered with.

Also, about 15 years ago I bought a Cobra Link, which are no longer being made, which is a very secure cable-locking "chain" that I sometimes carry on trips.

The problem with these is that they are heavy and don't fold in a particularly compact way, which may be why they feel out of grace. I can just loop it from my bike's wheel to the next bike or a post and the thieves will really have problems stealing the bike. There are other devices like rotor locks, etc., too. The more obstacles like this you add to the mix the less-likely thieves will bother. Of course, nothing is 100% theft-proof when dealing with the determined thief.
Im not trying to make you feel bad but a cheap pick will open that thing. Just like it will any barrel key lock. I have a buddy that is a lock smith and he has shown me the tricks that thieves use. It would amaze most people. He can open a barrel key lock in less then 20 seconds. You should see the set up he has on his work van. the thing is like fort knox.

4. Optional: Add a "ride naked" sticker to the tank

I try to stay at motels with outside doors. I get a handicap room and wheel it inside. Steal that! When out riding I try to stay within eyeshot unless I'm at a large gathering or something like that. Then, lock everything, arm the alarm and leave a cheap holster draped over the bars.
