I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but I'm currently negotiating on a 2010 Ultra Classic Limited in the white ice/black ice custom color scheme. So far the dealer has offered MSRP with $980 setup and freight, plus a $500 document fee. I asked for a 3 yr PSP- they're charging $1700 for it. Do you think I can do better? Are any of you getting any of the fees dropped or a better deal for the three year service plan?
You can do much better. Call Augusta for starters. Those guys were willing to deal big time.
Having bought about 10 Harleys I can tell you that in most cases the setup and freight are negotiationable. I rarely pay it at all. Also NEVER have I paid a 500 dollar documentation fee. I usually walk out of a dealership around 1000 or 500 below MSRP Out the Door.
Just got to work'em....then work'em some more. Also pit dealers against each other. Simple...
A bud just bought a 2010 Ultra and got 2700 off. Of course 1050 of the discount was in the freight and setup. So in other words he got the freight and setup waived and got 1650 off MSRP. Doc fees were cheap. 65 bucks I think.
Being in the Atlanta (Kennesaw) area, if you are looking at the dealer closest to you I'm surprised you got out of the dealership w/o putting your name on a sales contact. I couldn't even get them to give me a price on a new bike, they wanted to get me in the sales office and grind me. I went to Harley of Atlanta in Douglasville and negotiated $21,500 out the door (sales tax, junk fees, everything) on a 2009 Vivid Black Ultra with ABS and Security, took less than 30 minutes to do the whole deal. This was last April, since then Harley has scaled back production so I don't know if or how much dealers are negotiating on 2010 models. With the number of dealerships in your area I would at least shop around, wouldn't hurt anything.

thanks for the info, im going back tomorow and haggle some more. they are having the bike shiped in from smokey mt. hd just for me. hope they don't think im going to buy it because of that.
As an alternative, I'd like to suggest that you look for a used, late model bike. You are looking at a new bike at MSRP + $3,200 in useless extras. Service plan? You don't need no service plan. Does it come with a jar of genuine HD vaseline? You can get a service manual for $60 and do it yourself. And if you get in trouble with something, you've got us right here to help you. Have we ever let you down before?
I bet you could snag a 2008 or 2009 Ultra for about $3,000 off MSRP with practically no mileage on it. That's a savings of over $6,000 from a new one. To put it into biker's terms, you could get 400 lap dances with the money you save. That's 800 bare, naked, jubblies right there on top of you to feast your starving eyes on.
I know, I know. You have your heart set on the new model right? At least think about it.

Thanks in advance,
Since it is a Limited, they must think that they can get MSRP either with you or someone else later. The thing that bothers me the most is the $1700 for the 3 year extended warranty. Do you realize that is only 1 year extra on the warranty? When they sell their service plans, they count the 2 year factory warranty in the plan, so 3 year plan is the 2 year factory warranty plus 1 additional year. That price sucks! I paid that much for a 7 year plan with tire and wheel protection.
You need to run away from that place. They are not doing you any favors and are trying to get all they can out of you, thinking that you won't know any better.
I paid msrp + tax/title/licensing, no other fees or set up costs. Got a great price for my trade and it was the bike I wanted with the options I wanted, all of the above made for a great deal imo.
