Default Cam cover temperature question

New to the world of floor boards. took my new Ultra for its first long ride this weekend. Is it normal for the cam cover to get hot? how hot is normal? I accidently had my heal resting on it and melted my boot. Previous ride was a Wide glide with forward controls. in eight years I never touched the cam cover while riding.

Thanks

See where both of your exhaust pipes pass by the cam cover?

Have not yet updated the sig pic. I am now running the fat cat. Are you saying that much heat is the norm?

Check out my pic, got the Fatcat on mine. The pipe still covers the cam cover. More than likely the pipe is what melted your boot, but it came in contact with the cam cover while melted. But yes, the pipe will radiated heat onto the cam cover.

Footboard spacers helped me with the issue. I got the 3/4" spacers, but you can get the 1" as well. Cheap and easy mod.
