Default Something a little different, what do you think?

Since my parts are starting to come together, I thought I'd share one thing I came up with towards the tasteful blackening of my bike. Once I get the rest of my stuff back from being re-done, along with the replacement of something "I" screwed up (damned stripped threads!), I'll be able to post pics of the finished bike. Since we're never really ever finished, we'll agree to call it finished 'enough' to post pics!

Anyway, here it is, an altered front fender skirt, what do you think?

The short answer, I didn't. I had it powdercoated.

The emblem is a thin aluminum piece, but will come off when pried gently. On the back there is a small piece of chrome tape about the size of a dime which you'll need to carefully peel off (because you'll need to re-use it) and this covers a Tylenol sized hole in the skirt. Why the hole is there, I have no idea. It serves no purpose and if the tape is not replaced, the new emblem you're going to buy will eventually get water & dirt behind it and at some point it will come off. Don't use your finger nail like I did, use a razor blade to lift that tape, it'll go on better when you put it back on. Mine turned out fine as I merely sliced off a tiny bit where my fingernail crinkled it. I'm pleased with it. Looks even better in person. Glad you like it, thanks!

I can see that on the bike now, really a nice touch. I like the small bit of shiny aluminum against the black also. Really nice!

Thanks for the kind words. I had a chance to install some of the black goodies today and I did manage to have time to install the fender skirt. I got lucky, looks better than I hoped it would. But, I'll wait to post that one when the bike is ready. Not sure if mine will be able to compare with some of the sweet rides often posted here on the forum, but we'll give it a go for fun.

Only guarantees; it will be a little different, I'll enjoy it and that's the best part!
