PCV Firmware update issues
First let me say thank you in advance for any helpful insight you all may have.
2009 FLHX, RSD venturi A/C, Klock Werks WFB Dbl Back exhaust, Klock Werks WFB 4"slip on mufflers, PCV w/auto tune.
Back ground: I have a PCV w/auto tune that I bought from Jamie. (I will try to talk to Jamie in the morning if I can get a slow time at work. I just thought someone may be up and have some insight). I did the desk top software update to version 1.0.3.2 and then did the PCV firmware update to version V0.1.4.0.
Prior to the update everything was operating within specification. The disease of it works fine so now lets make it better got me this time.
Problem: The software now does not recognize throttle position, input from the O2 sensors, engine temp or any other input with the exception of engine RPM and the duty cycle of the injectors.
I made no changes in wiring, only plugged in the USB cable to the PCV and performed the steps as written in the manual to install the firmware update.
It appears that the PCV is only running on the base map. The appropriate check marks are in the boxes for use Harley Diagnostic Port, Monitor Engine Temp and Auto Tune Enabled.
Any insight as what may be the solution??
Thank you,
Justin

Well now. Isn't that interesting. I was doing a firmware update on a PCIIIusb last Thursday that was working fine also. When I got done with the upgrade, no throttle position! obviously not the same system you're working with but I'd be interested in your outcome. I spent almost an hour on the phone w/ Gerald at Dynojet after this happened to no avail( he really tried, too). Had to send it to them for diagnosis.
The one I had recognized everything except for throttle position and when you reved it up the fuel would change to whatever was in the zero coloumn for the specific rpm you held it at. Never seen that problem with a powercommander before. He even connected to my computer and tried to load the upgrade, tried to reload the old version, etc. Nothing.

How do you know you are running on the base map only? Clear trims and take a ride, checking later for changes in the trim tables. I'd be interested in what Fuel Moto has to say.

Talked to Jamie today. he told me that sometimes the PCV is having trouble taking the firmware update for all channels. Sometimes it takes two or more times to get it to take.
I tried the download again and this is what I got:
PCV connected, commence firmware update.
Choose device, next
Choose firmware update, next
Requesting device boot information.
Device boot information found.
Error loading file. Stop. (PCV boot module in window)
Choose device, next.
Choose update, next
Recovery mode
Erase memory
Write memory
Request device main application
Device main application found
File load completed successfully
Recovery completed successfully. Stop.
At which point I spent some time writing all of this down to reference later.
Listening to what Jamie had said I did the reload again.
This time it went through a bunch of different actions ending (I'm guessing the ones that it was supposed to do assuming no errors) with an end statement stating success.
I started the bike everything was being monitored except AF ratio. It was not even shown in the window.
Shut down the bike, restarted the PC Desktop software, restarted the bike and all is now operating as it should be. Everything is being monitored properly.
Off to do a little riding to see if the auto tune is doing its thing.

Same here, I was on the phone with Jamie & Keith when the 1.4.0 firmware failed to properly update. I had to re-run the firmware update 3-4 times before it all took properly and I got all of my gauge monitors back on the right side of the computer screen within the software.
Just keep re-running the firmware update until it all gets back to normal.

Not to bring back an old thread here or anything but I just updated by firmware and found something quite odd.
It also took me several attempts to get the V0.1.4.0 firmware to take. The first few times the a/f never showed up. After the last attempt everything seems to work as excepted except the 'Engine Temp', it's reading in the 300+ range. Anyone else have this? Should I continue my luck at reloading the firmware?
Sorry for the large picture but I wanted to make sure everyone could read it.

Nowhere near this temperature here and I can't believe you're really seeing a reading this high, as it can't be accurate. I would get on the horn and call DJ for help. Let us know what you find out.

Are you sure that it is not actually over 300? It is possible if you leave the bike idle for an extended period while sitting stationary with no forced air to cool the motor in extreme heat.

Well to be honest, no. It didn't really feel any hotter than normal but it had sat and idled for a few minutes. I'll take it for a spin tomorrow and hook it back up when I get back. I still need to verify that the Auto Tune is adjusting my trims since that was one of the issues I had after one of the first attempts at the firmware update. Thanks for the replies and I'll update tomorrow.
I was going to ask him the same thing, but 329° sounds way too hot for front CHT unless you left it running overnight or checked it after taking a little break to watch "Gone With the Wind."
