After driving my bike and turning the 'key' all the way to Fork Lock the radio will stay on for about 10-20 seconds before turning off. If I turn the key to Off the radio will shut off immediately.
I had a similar problem on my '04 EG. Replaced the ignition switch (it's what the ignition **** slides into, and the part is not matched to the key) and solved the problem. The part cost about $85; simple job. Removed fairing cap, removed outer fairing, unplugged the quick disconnect that has three wires in it, ball end allen or equivalent to remove two screws that secure the ignition switch, remove and replace with new one and reverse the above.
Before buyiing the new part, I looked at the original ignition to see if it was serviceable and mine wasn't. It surprised me to realize after installing the new ignition how loose my original ignition had become after 5 years/60K miles compared to the new, replacement switch. The p/n for the ignition switch is 71640-99.
Good luck with your repair.
