speaker set up
I am getting ready to order a retro radio package w/hogtunes
When looking at used bikes one guy had tweeters put into the two gage holders next to the radio. This gives you 4 speakers in the fairing. Anyone have any feedback on this set up. Especially from an acoustics stand point. How difficult would it be to tie some tweeters into the retro package???

If you're getting the Biketronics setup .. call Mike at (805) 777-7209 and run it by him .. he's the owner. I got the Retro Radio kit with the Sony CDX-GT400 and added the XM Satellite Radio module for an extra $99 bucks. I have to admit it's a great after market radio setup and all controlled by the switches on your HD handlebars .. very cool. The Sony also plays MP3's and WMA tunes on a CD and because of the audio compression of MP3's and WMA's .. you can get over 200 tunes on one CD ( I have an Oldies CD with 259 MP3's on it). Good Luck with your speaker idea and let us know how it turns out.
Hey there
There are textile dome tweeters (fabric) and hard dome (plastic, metal etc). Fabric is my fave for sound, but will be like a sponge in weather--not good.
Most car stereo brands offer tweeters by themselves. I know Rockford does for sure. They will come with in line x-overs to suck the bass out. All you need to do is parallel the tweeter with the speaker. So the poitive from the radio goes into the speaker--then goes to the input of the x-over, and then into the + of the tweeter. Do the same for the - and thats it.
If you find some tweets that fit but have no crossover--let me know and I can show you how to do your own basic one that will work fine.
I think this is an OK idea if you liike alot of treble--and its a cool way to fill the guage openings.
Call with any questions--PEZ
