I have the same issue.......just took it for 10k service and it's still there....I have tried many types of oils and I am back to stock oil. I have been told and read it here that those with a windshield hear it more, that is total bullcrap,it wasn't there the first 1000 miles......check this link,it may or may not help

Probably coming from the lifters, just turn up the radio. Works for me.

My SG had a tick once but I sprayed it with flea and tick powder. Problem solved.

Ticking is probably valve train noise. No worries.

+1. It's valve/lifter something noise. I've had several Harleys and the RG I currently have is the Loudest ever. Like it's coming apart. I'm taking it in one day...

The ticking noises you hear are the solenoids in the fuel injectors opening and closing. This is normal

But would that noise be coming from the left side?

Yes because it is more open. the air cleaner blocks most of the sound on the right side. i tested this using a decades old technique.....a long screwdriver. touch the blade end of a flat tip screwdriver to the fuel injector and the other end up to your ear. You will hear the solenoids actuating. The screwdriver acts like a stethoscope. We used this technique to diagnose engine noises in school. Works like a charm. The longer the screwdriver the better!

Shoot I was meaning to ask... Say you have a sloppy valve train making noise. Can you cut out the stock pushrods and put in adjustables to take up the slack? Will that quiet it down? I wonder if anyone ever tried that.
